Remarks & Notes
On the second day of excursions with Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 3985, the big Challenger envelops its train with coal smoke (yes, it was still coal fired at this time) as it passes the USS Geneva Work steel plant in Vineyard, Utah, on June 27th, 1982. The excursions, one on the 26th and another on the 27th, operated from Salt Lake City to Provo and return. The steel mill is now gone, and the main line has been downgraded to a branch line.
