Remarks & Notes

As the evening shadows lengthen SIR NIGEL GRESLEY is being serviced. In this view you see the cover open giving access to the smokebox door. At the end of their working lives two of this class (Dwight D Eisenhower and Dominion of Canada) were given to the USA and Canada respectively, to be displayed in museums. Four are preserved in the UK. There were 35 of these locomotives built (one being destroyed in WW2).
