Flying Scotsman is back! After being out of traffic for just over ten years, one of the most famous locomotives in the world, the iconic Gresley Pacific Flying Scotsman, returned to public trains on the East Lancashire Railway this weekend, folllowing a massive overhaul. After a press launch and VIP dining train on Friday, the public got their chance to ride behind the loco on Saturday and Sunday. Pre-booking was essential, and the trains on both Saturday and Sunday were quickly sold out. On Saturday, the rain poured down, but on Sunday, the weather brightened a little. Painted in wartime matt black for the first few weeks its latest period in service, here we see her on Sunday morning, in tandem with Black Five no 45407 (to support Scotsman's not yet fully serviceable air brake) in a panned shot at Burrs heading south.
