Remarks & Notes
Also known as the Strand Road Railway, The Yangon Harbour Railway runs mostly along its namesake road on the city's waterfront. To get there, though, it winds its way around buildings and through the city's back alleys. In addition to freight trains serving the port (which I never saw, but according to one source I found, about 10 freights a day originate or terminate there) the line plays host to a recently-inaugurated commuter service which makes use of these RBE-class diesel-powered railcars of unknown heritage. Here's one of them approaching the Bogyoke Road crossing, not too far from the junction with MR's main line. Parts of the harbour railway are expected to be electrified in the very near future. (Note that the Harbour Railway is not to be confused with the more popular Circular Railway.)
