As the power from the Saint Croix Valley Railroad's southern job arrives in Rush City, it heads straight to the enginehouse. As it does, GP9 1363 ejects some air that kicks up some of the new-fallen snow. SCXY 1363 was purchased by the Great Northern as their (high-nosed) GP9 676. Following the Burlington Northern merger, it became BN 1828. Lead engine 1325 began life as Rio Grande SD45 5335, before becoming Union Pacific 4744, UP SD40M-2 2794, CEFX 2794 and CITX 2794 before becoming part of the St. Croix's roster. While neither engine was ever owned by Northern Pacific, this shortline's NP-inspired paint scheme looks fantastic on these locomotives.
