Remarks & Notes |
The Sunday afternoon Athens turn is on its return trip to Gainesville and has just made it over the steepest part of the grade climbing Talmo hill. Today's crew had to cut 1500 tons at Athens as a result of being one six axle locomotive short in their consist. During the 80's and 90's the normal six axle trio/ four axle duo consist was rated for 6500 tons climbing the hill and any more would likely add scrap iron to the right of way. Many Conductors found out the hard way when they overloaded the wagon. |
