Escaping the scrappers torch for a number of months, the quad-track bridge at NC Cabin still stands to this day, but their days are severely numbered, as the opposite signals have been replaced and the new bridge is on site, ready to be changed over. Tonight's westbound Cardinal passes through on time, and may become one of the last passenger trains to pass under the ex-C&O bridge before it finally succumbs to progress.
Kentucky hasn't been lucky with Amtrak. The Floridian and Kentucky Cardinal are gone. The Cardinal runs only three times a week. The City of New Orleans passes through in the middle of the night. Yet, there are still many good views to be seen.
