A New Lease on Life
The only Maine Eastern GP9 sits silently at Lake Junction awaiting pick up by NS for delivery to the Strasburg Railroad. The unit is owned by the Morristown & Erie and up until this year served a sister company the Maine Eastern until they ceased operations in 2015. With no work for the engine on the Morristown & Erie the railroad was quick to find it a new temporary home by leasing it to the Strasburg Railroad, thus preserving the locomotives usefulness and strikingly unique paint scheme. |
