After following the BNSF Transcon from Kingman to Flagstaff most of the day and seeing only a handful of trains under dark, dreary skies and full blown heavy rain showers, I arrived in Flagstaff just as the clouds began to clear. Within 5 minutes of arrival, my reward is this westbound stack in gorgeous storm light as it blew past the Flagstaff Amtrak station and city visitor center. A gentleman and his grandson as well as another fan enjoy the show from behind the fence. Within the next 30 minutes the scene was repeated three more times before the sun finally dropped below the horizon to mark a perfect end to an otherwise crummy day.
For the train and storm chaser. Trains with thunderstorms, dark clouds, rain, lightning, hurricanes - tropical storms, funnel clouds, storm light, rainbows, and snow storms.
