Dressed in the road’s dazzling all-white scheme, Kansas City Southern GP38-2 4005 leads two GP30s and another GP38-2, Shreveport-bound near Lake Lavon, northeast of Dallas on a September morning, 1978. The original right-of-way here is under water, and this track, technically owned by KCS subsidiary Louisiana & Arkansas, was relocated in 1953 when the lake was completed as part of the Dallas water system.
