The Alco era on the Susquehanna was interesting, if not always rewarding. The sight of Alco Centuries on a mainline train was a treat for railfans, but a long journey to encounter them could result in a disappointment, when additional power was added (usually on the point) to ensure that the train would make it over the road. Here, a pair of Conrail C30-7A’s has been added to a westbound haulage train.
