It is one of those unusual things I often ask is why!? Here we see a 25 year old warhorse sitting at on the storage track "Deadline" outside of the Norfolk Southern's Chattanooga Diesel Shop, the famous stretch of track where locomotive are send to find out its unknown fate, or just put in storage for the time being. NS 6699 is one of six SD60s, and five D8-40C that are in a single line waiting for orders from the head of diesel locomotive department to have this line of old classic power to be towed to its maker. More than likely NS 6699 and its sister units are gonna be sen to Altoona, PA to be rebuilt into the "New and Improve" SD60Es and the D8-40C will either go to Altoona Shop's to be turn into those ridiculously funky looking D8-40.5 Locomotive that Norfolk Southern had manage to come up with, or go to Cresson Steel in Cresson, PA where the old school GE will be cut up in its final resting place. Well back to my unusual question, is why is NS 6699 is in the new Norfolk Southern Image, and then get then get thrown in storage!?!?!? Well never know!!!
