Built by EMD in September 1953 as Southern Pacific 5324, this SD7 was equipped with a steam generator for dual service. By this date (February 26th, 1975), this engine had not been used on a passenger train in quite a few years and was found on the Anaheim Hauler in Buena Park, California. In the 1965 renumbering, this engine became number 2731, and was renumbered again - to 1431 - on September 18th, 1973. It would be rebuilt in the SP's Sacramento Shops in early 1980 and renumbered to it fourth and final roadnumber: 1520.
