Remarks & Notes |
"GMTX 9000 at Westchester Ave Station" GMTX SD60 #9000 leads Providence & Worcester FPCH (Fresh Pond/ Cedar Hill) stone train east past the abandoned NYW&B Westchester Ave Station on Amtrak's Hell Gate Line. GATX #9000 was jointly leased by Providence & Worcester and Vermont Rail System and features a specially made logo representing both railroads on the sides. Westchester Ave Staion was designed by Cass Gilbert & completed using terra cotta detailing in 1908. Service ceased in 1937, but due to the way the station was constructed, it still remains today, suspended over Amtrak's Hell Gate Line (Northeast East Corridor). Also noticeable in this photo is the missing track from the CSX Secondary. CSX replaced the first secondary track with steal ties and is now working on doing the same with the second track which is fully removed in the photo. |
