NS 164 (Birmingham,AL-Chattanooga,TN) cruises north pass the set off track at Wuahatchie heading for Chattanooga. Unfortunately the crew trip has ended on a bad note, shortly after when this photo was taken about 2 minutes later, the general time freight as slammed into an empty clear harbor dump truck at Wauhatchie (MP- 5.5 (CP) Wauhatchie) at the starting of the double track main causing the train to derailed piling eight to ten cars up on each other, destroying both main 1 and 2 track. The lead motor NS 8505 glided off the rail once after impact and landed into the ravine with the crew on board. The crew manage to walk away with minor injury....Thank Goodness!!!! As far as the dump truck goes, the cab was sheared off the frame of the truck itself and went into the ravine as well, the drive escape with only minor injury. Just a reminder that one small careless mistake can cause a disaster. Stop...Look... And Live!!
