Veterans at Sunnyside
An inbound NJ Transit commuter train has just become an outbound train after making a loop around Sunnyside Yard. The train is sitting on the North Runner before heading back to Penn Station for another trip down the Northeast Corridor. 4635 is one of several NJ Transit locomotives that wear a decal honoring veterans. At far right, the red roof of Amtrak's veterans unit, ACS-64 641, is visible above the roofline of parked long distance equipment. At lower left, construction of the MTA/Long Island Railroad East Side Access project continues. When completed, this connection will allow Long Island Railroad trains to operate directly into Grand Central Terminal.
