CNW SD45 943 leads a former Chicago Great Western SD40 and two SD40-2s on an eastbound freight as the train crosses the Eau Claire River at Eau Claire, WI. The locos seem to dominate the bridge, which at this time was still a gauntlet bridge, interweaving a double track mainline onto a single track wide structure. The bridge was protected on either end by a semaphore and derail switches, controlled by Eau Claire Tower, about a mile west of this location. The train will climb a grade for about another mile into Altoona for a crew change and any necessary switching.

just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
