The marbled figure marking the tomb of 1st Lieutenant William Wise of the 2nd Colorado Voluntary Cavalry watches over the interred veterans in Denver's Riverfront Cemetery as well as the passing BNSF trains. Of the 67,000 buried in Riverside, just over 1,000 are veterans, many from the Civil War. Owing that Denver had well-established military hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, you can find service members from many states, including the 25th Illinois Infantry, 8th Pennsylvania Cavalry, 10th Wisconsin Infantry, 54th Massachusetts Infantry, 1st Pennsylvania Artillery, 25th Michigan Infantry, 1st Connecticut Battery, 21st Indiana Infantry, 101st Ohio Infantry, 12th Missouri Cavalry, 11th Maine Infantry, 58th New York Infantry, 5th California Infantry, 1st Delaware Battery, 39th New Jersey Infantry 4th Tennessee Infantry, 8th Kansas Infantry, 13th New Hampshire Infantry, and 2nd Nebraska Cavalry.
