Canadian National train No. 485, with welded rail up front, passes Windy Point west of Devona, Alberta, on August 5, 2016. Distant thunderstorms develop to the east of this “wide spot” in the Athabasca River known as Jasper Lake in scenic Jasper National Park.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
