Remarks & Notes
This one of a kind B&O painted caboose is here today as a result of the hard work and forward thinking of B&O caboose historian Dwight Jones. He came up with the idea in 2002 to take an existing CSX caboose and repaint it into a special scheme to honor the anniversary of the B&O's initial construction. Taking a caboose which was actually owned by the B&O, Dwight and his brother worked weekends and evenings to restore and paint this beauty without bearing any cost to CSX. The caboose was completed in November of 2003 and named the "Spirit of B&O" becoming only the 2nd caboose to be given the "Spirit of" naming just like certain GE locomotives. Today it still roams the CSX system wearing the B&O inspired paint scheme of a red car body with black under-frame and trucks as well as medium green window screens which was actually the B&O caboose color scheme decades ago. Tonight it's seen on the end of CWR train that is tied down in the West Point siding for the evening.

Cabooses have always been one of my favorite pieces of railroad equipment. This is just a collection of some of the caboose shots on the site.
