It was a hot and humid summer day along the Mississippi at Alma, WI. You could cut the air with a knife. All was quiet until a headlight showed up around the corner. I thought a year earlier it would have been the Morning Zephyr. But all was not lost as train 3, the Pacific Zip, led by a Big Sky Blue SD45, and featuring a GN express boxcar in the consist, hauled ass through town, showing the world that BN could still move trains at Zephyr speeds. This train had a two day schedule between Chicago and Seattle and it did not intend to be late.
