Remarks & Notes
While going through old photos this rare image was dug up. A scene that was once common on the Mount Washington Cog Railway multiple times a day, an 0-2-2-0 steam locomotive begins to push a single coach up the grade to the summit. With the railroad's transition to John Deere powered bio-diesel locomotives only one train per day is still steam powered. This particular locomotive #6 "Kancamagus" was put out of service after the 2010 year. Today it remains on the properly but is never used. Only 2 of the original 8 steam locomotives remain ready for service. Although the new diesels are much more efficient, they lack the romance of the old steam power.
