That Horizontal Nose Headlight is the Giveaway to its Heritage
Leased to the Mission Rail Park/Twin Eagle Sand Logistics/Frontier Logistics complex in Floresville, Texas, is Larry's Truck and Electric Service GP35 3847. This locomotive was originally Southern Pacific 7716 (built in February 1965). The SP renumbered it to 6613 in 1965, and then rebuilt it to a GP35R numbered SP 6331. After its services were no longer needs on the SP, it crossed the country and became Northern Vermont Railway 510. After that, it was owned by Larry's Truck and Electric as LTEX 510. M. Ryan Railway Contractors owned it next, numbering it MJRX 510, before selling it to Webb Asset Management, which assigned it number WAMX 3847. Finally, it was back to LTEX, but this time with a new number. At some point, this engine received a rebuilding that included what appears to be a reversal of the dynamic brake housing, which necessitated the shortening of the radiator grilles and GP38-type radiator fans. Photographed on private property with permission and full PPE.
