Remarks & Notes |
EMD Trifecta Above Route 23
An NYS&W ballast extra heads for Pompton Junction after dropping ballast throughout Sparta Mountain. In typical Susquehanna fashion this train operated with a rather unique power set in the form of an SD33-ECO/GP32-8/SD40-2. The seemingly excessive horsepower for this 15 car train was necessary as Sparta Mountain leads to the highest point on rails in the state of New Jersey and the train would make frequent stops dropping stone while ascending the mountain. |
