| As a new storm front moves over northern California and the Sierra Nevada range Union Pacific prepares for mother natures worst intentions. Running as the first line of defense to contend with the build up of Donner's 'Sierra Cement' are UP's fleet of former Southern Pacific flangers. Returning from a 'Fulda flip' GP38-2 602 (ex-SP 4839) drops down grade at Andover on the eastern slope of the mountain. Upon arriving at Truckee, home base for the snow fighters, the crew will receive a well deserved rest after a night of flanging. |
