One of the favorite faces in railroading, EMD's bulldog nosed E and F units is on display at Burlington Northern's Metra coach yard at Aurora, IL in June 1991. The Es, rebuilt by Morrison-Knudson were the backbone of BN's commuter service since the mid 1970s, but would soon be retired in favor of more modern power. Prior to rebuilding the Es were part of the Burlington's Zephyr fleet and rotated between high speed Zephyr service and the commuter assignments.
