Four RS11’s, still dressed in the Lehigh Valley’s Cornell Red, but tattooed with Conrail monograms, lead a westbound train out of Allentown yard on the former CNJ main line. The Lehigh Valley had four low-nose RS11’s, bought new from Alco, as well as six high-nose versions inherited from parent PRR. After Conrail’s formation, all ten stayed in the Allentown area until, one by one, they were retired.
