On December 16, 1983, two Toledo, Peoria & Western trains pose at the Farmdale trestle near East Peoria, Illinois. Above is train No. 24, the the Effner Local, with GP38-2s Nos. 2002 and 2008, passing over the Morton Switcher powered by GP18 No. 600. This photo was arranged by McMillan Publications with the cooperation of TP&W for the Joe McMillan and Robert P. Olmsted book “The Peoria Way” featuring the railroad. This scene was only possible for 54 days at the end of the TP&W before the merger with Santa Fe at the end of 1983. Recently acquired trackage rights on the lower line via the Norfolk and Western used to reach customers at Morton made the shot possible.
