On January 2, 2007, a westbound Kyle plow extra derailed on a icy crossing at Kanorado, Kansas, and fortunately no one was injured in the mishap. Kyle plow MWK 06 derailed at the crossing and headed south off the right-of-way, digging up some dirt in the process and also derailing EMD CEFX SD45T-2 Nos. 9282 and 9245. Still on the rails is the last locomotive in the consist, former Santa Fe and HTCX SD45-2 (labeled a SD40-2R) No. 6486. In the next day or so, the locomotives will be rerailed and track repaired. Wrecked plow MWK 06 didn’t fair so well. It was simply left there for the winter, finally cut up for scrap after languishing there for a couple years.
