Remarks & Notes
An eastbound APL train passes through Afton Canyon with five GEs on the point and two SD40-2s pushing on the rear. The Dash8s were new then. The head end was 9156-9142-9107-9116-2415, helper 3389-3232. These were the days before regular use of unmanned DPUs (distributed power units), so there was a crew on the SDs shoving on the rear. The SDs ran from Los Angeles, CA to Milford Utah - the longest manned helper district in North America, 572.6 miles
