Chesapeake Western's crew, V94, is seen here just south of mile post 107 on the former Southern "Manassas to Harrisonburg " branch line is returning from Broadway with a small string of empty's. Up until June of 2015 this line was called V94/Mt. Jackson which was then the end of the active line. The line is cut back to Broadway due to lack of business and now the current time table reads V94/Broadway. This once heavily used passenger & freight line is slowly slipping away town by town. The "Blue stone" rock up cropping is a common sight in this part of Virginia.
Solely the CW Past and Present.
July 5, 1895 CW moved its first load of freight and although its existence is merely on paper today, its roots run deep. 129 years and still moving freight. The CW operates as a subsidiary of Norfolk Southern.
