CSX Parkersburg Yard job Y121-01 has picked up 12 cars from the Low Yard on the Ohio River Subdivision across town & has just spotted three cars at an industry (left of frame) before tying the train up for the afternoon.
Parkersburg was once a major hub of activity for the Baltimore & Ohio, with two major rail lines passing through town, the Ohio River Subdivision from Kenova to Wheeling via Huntington, Point Pleasant, and New Martinsville; and the famous Parkersburg Subdivision of the Cumberland to St. Louis mainline, abandoned in the early 1990's and torn up in sections east & west of the area. What's left of the "Branch" still exists as a switching lead for the High Yard (once used by coal trains for Relief, Ohio) and as the Parkersburg Running Track to access the Marietta Subdivision across the river, as well as a chemical plant in Belpre at the end of the line.
