While the Cushing Stone quarry is still very much active, Cushing 264 weathers yet another day in the spot it has been for many years during the magical blue hour. This EMD Model 40, powered by two 6-71 Detroit Diesels, once served the quarry moving ballast cars around. Hoppers were loaded from the ramp seen behind the locomotive. Access to the quarry was from the former West Shore & Buffalo Railroad. When CSX finally acquired the line, they deemed the ballast to be insufficient and officially abandoned the line in 2003. The tracks would be ripped up soon after sealing the current fate of this locomotive.
