| In 1996 the UP began work to add a second track to this bridge over the Cedar River on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids. This bridge was once a gauntlet bridge, changed to single track CTC in the 70's, and was double tracked with UP infrastructure improvements after the CNW merger. Here one can see most of the piling are wired up for the final pour as this westbound passes.
