Looking more like a model railroader's dream than a real working railroad, Pan Am Railway's Waterville, Maine yard can often appear fictional. With power from recently-arrived SAPPI-3 in the hole in the distance, GP9 #52 will back up past sister EMD #77 and hook onto the latter's cars to ready them for points West. Out of view to our right, a third GP9, #72, had already gone with #52 to Augusta earlier in the day. Crazy to think it's early 2017, and three active GP9s are working right here with us! Add in the retired Hummer being used by yard crews to throw switches, and we could seriously be in the twilight zone!
