A Friendly Wave
Conrail SECN and CNSE were known for interesting locomotive consists on their runs between Selkirk Yard and the CN interchange on the Montreal Secondary. This day's SECN with a three-builder consist (EMD-BBD-GE) did not disappoint. The lead unit is one of only 29 rebuilt SD40s classified by CN as an SD40-2Q. Trailing is MPI SD40M-2 9010, CN HR616 2111, CR SD50 6748 plus two CR B23-7s. I remember this day well, as a friend and I first caught this train at Cranesville and wound up chasing it to this location just west of Utica. It was not an easy chase as they were making track speed the whole way. The conductor can be seen waving at us from the front window of the SD40.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
