Imagine this. You're Dispatcher 74 and haven't been able to run trains between Shed 47 and Switch 9 all day. The spreaders just toned you up and gave back the #2 track between Norden and Shed 10, but they will still occupy the #1 track. Eastbound you have a ZOAG2, ZLTG2, ZDLCYP and MRVNP near Switch 9. Westbound you have a MNPRV, ZG2OA, and Amtrak 5 which has been sitting at Shed 47 for over 5 hours. Who do you run first? Needless to say, Dispatcher 74 and the corridor manager were antsy at this point. After the string of eastbound Z trains raced over the mountain, it was time for the westbounds. Here, the MNPRV tries to keep a good pace as it is wedged between Amtrak 5 and the ZG2OA in the first westbound fleet of the day.
