Remarks & Notes |
The Iowa Northern's Oelwein Job pokes along northbound toward Fairbank. The job has a small 4 car train as they cross the Wapsipinicon River in Bruggeman Park between Dunkerton and Fairbank. The job has a couple mother slugs for power. The Iowa Northern got a federal grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to help pay for their 1st 2 slugs they got. The slug program is to help reduce emissions. These slugs have been pair with the higher powered units like the GP40's and F40's. They get horsepower without fuel, the Mother units power the slug thru the connections between the units. |
