Remarks & Notes |
Most of the retired none -2 GP40s were sold off for scrap and or sold for rebuild projects by buyers looking to keep the secondhand locomotive market going, but a few managed to hang on later to become gutless slugs which added onto the 2200/2300 series. CSXT 2339 is a former B&O GP40 turned Road Mate. The term Road Slug which is the official unit designation from the early 90s' when CSX kicked off it's pioneering slug program is still carried on today although some refer to the units as Road Mates. CSXT 2339 and it's GP40-2 mother unit 6455 stand at Fairburn, Georgia on February 4, 2017. |
