Kanawha River Railroad's Columbus to Dickinson freight KN-380 pulls into Nitro Yard on a rainy March afternoon to sort & switch cars for delivery to the Kanawha Valley, as well as drop off cars for the Nitro Local, train KN-40 on duty to assist with switching. KN-380's power sports an ex-Southern Pacific SD45 rebuilt to SD40-2 specs (one of three on the 300+ mile shortline) and a leased Norfolk Southern SD60, while KN-40 uses two ex Gulf, Mobile, & Ohio and Western Maryland GP35's rebuilt to GP39V's by the ICG's Paducah Shops, now owned by NRE.
