Takin' 5. A pair of ladies employed as yard hands enjoy a brief break from the filthy task of cleaning up after an aging N&W M-Class Locomotive in late 1943. Who knows what topics these two might have been discussing this fine evening? Perhaps it was the latest scuttlebutt on company management. Perhaps it was the contents of a letter from a husband or boyfriend fighting in the Pacific Theater. All too soon, break will be over and these gals will have to continue their own war effort, keeping the home fires burning.

This re-creation was staged at the Strasburg Railroad and the two ladies playing the roles of our "Rosies" this evening are both members of a World War II Re-enactment Group.
