BNSF Railway's 2016 California Division Christmas Train is stopped on one of the three BNSF mainlines that crest Summit in Cajon Pass on December 10, 2016, so that the engine crew can change the train from eastbound to westbound to complete the round trip back to San Bernardino. As we waited, Union Pacific (which has trackage rights on the BNSF over Cajon Pass) train MSCWC 9, a Salt Lake City, UT, to West Colton, CA, mainfest, with ET44AC 2664 on the point, approached on the middle mainline and came to a stop. Several minutes later an air horn was heard in the distance, and before long BNSF train S-CLOSCO1-08 (Intermodal Stacks; Clovis NM to Long Beach CA) appeared and passed the other two trains, beginning its descent down Cajon Pass to San Bernardino and beyond.
