Russell Plow on the Southern Tier
While daylight freights are an uncommon occurrence on the Southern Tier they seem to happen a few times per year given various circumstances causing the normal schedule to be disrupted. While not a true daylight "freight" the NYS&W operated a snow plow train over the Southern Tier to deal with the aftermath of winter storm Stella. The plow extra utilized the railroads recently repainted Russell Plow no. 92 along with two SD60s and plowed the mainline from Binghamton to CP Sparrow on a picturesque March day. |
