Remarks & Notes
Well that was unexpected. With word from upstate New York railfans that AMTK 69 (the northbound Adirondack) left Albany with a GP38H-3 as sole power yesterday, I was one of many railfans to shoot it on AMTK 68 today. Here the ex-GP40TC (built by GMD in London, Ontario for GO Transit just before its startup) is pushing the deadheading train towards Central Station 80 minutes before departure. This may be the first time one of these units has been the sole power on a medium-distance train such as the Adirondack. It certainly made a nice change from the usual Genesis Series power.

The Adirondack follows both the Hudson and the Lake Champlain shoreline on its leisurely trip between New York and Montreal. When it started, it was pulled by beautiful ALCO PAs purchased by Delaware & Hudson second-hand from the Santa Fe.
