Remarks & Notes |
Heritage Unit Reflection - The Daily Browns yard supply train from Oak Island yard Newark has just arrived (in the distance) with the locomotives now separated and parked in the foreground. These locomotives will wait here until night time when they will be used to return the row of cars on the right back to Newark. Most freight cars leave this yard empty. One exception are the finger cars with rebar, one of which is on the right. Scrap metal is transported to this yard in gondolas and transferred to the Gerdau Ameristeel Plant in Sayreville where it is processed into rebar. That rebar is then brought back to this yard to be hauled out to Newark. |
