Remarks & Notes |
With the long abandoned eyesore/landmark Tobin's First Prize meat packing facility (operated from 1924 to 1981) in the background, the CSX South Schenectady to Troy local rolls EB. The local has 11 more loads of road salt for the American Rock Salt distribution center in Troy. The local has been running daily now that the pile is low. In the foreground is the new second track that Amtrak is installing between Albany and Schenectady to ease congestion. At it's low point this area was down to 2 tracks, the main and one West Albany yard lead. A few years ago CSX rebuilt the second yard lead and now with the second main the area is back to 4 tracks. The leader is a former Western Maryland engine. |
