Ugh, Mondays.. Crew from Norfolk Southern begin clearing out a heavy pile of debris from a rockslide across the Kenova District mainline just west of the signals at Falls Branch following a weekend of heavy rains across Virginia and southern West Virginia. A passerby on Old US 119 ended up caught in the rockslide, and was shaken up but uninjured. The local fire departments and road department cleared the road as MOW forces filed in from Kenova, Kermit, and Williamson to begin the tedious cleanup process, which will last well into the night with trains stacking up on both sides of the slide, including high priority intermodals NS 218 and NS 29G. Crews hope to have track panels in place and at least one track opened up by morning.
