Remarks & Notes |
Less than 20 hours after Chesapeake Western's "Hot 70 car Grainer" had a car jump the track in "Boiler curve" some
20 cars behind the diamond, which then struck the trestle over Black's Run. The ensuing result was 5 loaded cars ended up into newly created void. The clean up crews have removed all the damaged cars and track repairs are already under way. They also have been vacuuming up all the spilled corn and transporting it to CW's yard and storing it on tarps laid out on the ground. Track repair and new ties (out of picture to the left) are already going back in. No word yet on the time frame for the bridge replacement but with CW's current boom in business and high demand for the area's 4 grain elevators, I believe it will be replaced quicker than most people expect. There were no injuries. |
