| A TXU SD50 and SD45T-2 works a cut of TXU empties towards the Oak Grove mine near Kosse, Texas. TXU mines their own lignite coal from this location and it's sent via rail to the Twin Oaks Reservoir. This operation was first negotiated in May of 1973, Construction began in February 1979. Through the mid 80s to mid 90s the project slowed down until environmental agreements could be reached and in February of 1989 engineering resumed. Groundbreaking for the Oak Grove Mine began in 2007 and the first fire was lit at Twin Oaks in September 2009. |
