| Were looking at an eastbound coal train passing the yard office on the north side of Hastings, NE. The old main track alignment here will be ripped up shortly in favor of the new double track bypass that passes on the north and east sides of Hastings. The west end of the new bypass can be seen above the 3rd unit on the train. The GP and cab on the right side of the frame are on the temporary connecting track between the old yard lead and the new main #1.
The new bypass was cut in within a week after this photo was taken, removing the UP tracks from downtown Hastings and eliminating the UP-BN crossing as well. |
